In early 2014, Taiga was part of the founding of Faultline Ensemble, in collaboration with a community health collective called the Rosehip Medics (www.rosehipmedics.org). This ensemble is a collection of community health workers, artists, community-based theater practitioners, medics, and healthcare workers, aiming to increase health access and local resiliency through theater.
Faultline's first original work, Holding onto the Sky, performed in November 2014 and was remounted in February 2016. This performance uses the setting of a fictional disaster in Portland, Oregon, to plunge characters into a high-stakes debate about emergency medical support, health access, and oppression and prejudice within our healthcare systems. The remount included a series of discussions with local disaster and community health experts, addressing practical questions about health and disaster resilience. This performance is an effort to reveal the flaws in our broken healthcare system, give voice to opinions often silenced within the healthcare debate, and highlight the resiliency already present in our local community.
Faultline is currently developing Counting Pebbles, a new production about mental health struggles and trauma in first responders, which received its first full production at the Yale Cabaret in spring 2019. Visit the link above for more information about Faultline's process and mission.
